Would that you would smile your whole smile
so that the smirk that curves your lips
would break forth and fill your soul with laughter
bid a liar to the venomous curl which like poisoned fangs destroy the soul
and the cold sepulchre which enthrones your heart
can now become a fiery flame which emits
an ever flowing stream of love.
Let that forlorn look upon your face
see hope reinstated by your engaging grin
let your eyes blaze with the light that comes from within
and consume the world’s lust, and hate, and greed
pernicious envy would recede to the grave which is its doom
setting you free and the whole world with all that there is therein.
O happy abode will earth’s terrain be
where the chirps of the birds and the ‘songs’ of the gurgling waters
of the river, or the rush of the sea could be heard as it ebbs and flows
where the sightless eyes can behold earth’s beauty
and the sweetness of it abode
where no wind , no cold, can deny the song of life
as the heavens dance in this its earthly sphere
to the sound of beauteous creation here below
where dreams flourish and visions never cease
where eternity calls us to our true selves.
Eternity is here and we are present to it
for it never leaves but beckons us to heights unknown
to depths, and paths less travelled
to see the unveiling of its splendour and delight in
its sweet nectar which draws us like bees to honey.
When we can comprehend that night is merely the other side of light
and the sun’s glow overshadows us even as darkness falls from the sky
and our joys and our sorrows dwell side by side to bring forth
new birth and plenteous laughter, and so deny the very source of our gloom
it is then that our hearts will become the flame which engulfs our very souls
and transform us, so that with the warmth of our smile
we too can transform this earth.
Would that you would smile your whole smile.
