Heard you were having a baby girl.
Your womb is now a garden
Where dreams and hopes blossom
Your hips have been blessed to light the way
For another sister spirit
Your thighs have been designated pillars of strength
To bastion a maiden into this cold world
Your breasts will deliver milk AND miraculous wisdom
That this soon daughter will need in abundance.
You are having a baby girl!
Have you pondered a name?
Have you sought the ancestors and begged their prudence?
That summoning word shall be hers
From blessed morn
To blessed eve
That name shall be her talisman against the enemy
That name shall be key to unlock her love,
Unleash her spirit and expose her soul.
That name shall be her last breath so,
There MUST be LIFE in that name.
Its to be a girl
Have you seen her yet in your minds eye?
Is she light and clear as the day?
Is she brown and fluid as the river?
Or is she dark and sultry like the night?
Are her curls tight and firm to show her headstrong nature , her loyalty and strength?
Or are they lustrous and full of bounce?
This shows her resilience, tenacity and wilfulness.
Or are they loose and flowing to reflect her effervescence, generous heart and open mind?
She will make you proud
She will make you wonder
She will make you rue the day you thought you were equipped for this.
She will teach
She will challenge
She will test your faith
Because in essence, she IS you!
The very best of you, even when you see her as the worst,
She is your perfect self
She is your baby girl
