This is a tribute to all poets who take the time,
to think, to rhyme with their minds,
to gather their thoughts,
to write down, to speak out,
to publish for the world to see
who takes the time just to be who they were born to be
They are poets.
They say what is on their minds.
Words naturally pour out from their hearts,
from out their mouths like gushing waters after the storms,
written on pieces of paper or on scraps
Or on the walls of their minds,
thoughts that are sometimes murky and brown,
sometimes clear and calm, flowing down,
easily interpreted and sometimes hard to decipher and understand.
Yet they are poets sometimes for all their efforts,
some will be seen and heard. Some will not be seen,
some will never be heard.
Some will hide their offerings in closets
or maybe in cupboards.
But oh poets, do not lose heart.
Do not give up yet.
As you inspire, continue to be inspired.
You won't need weed to succeed
or to let your imagination soar higher.
Take an interlude in solitude,
write with concern and care and do not let fear interfere
in your need to express and to address the issues you want
to present to the world, as you vent from the restless turgid swellings from within,
to voice your opinions, to get rid of the itch and the urge to purge
our soul of that longing to share what is within your heart,
Poets, in the midst of the tumult that surrounds,
in the midst of many voices, in the midst of life's concerns,
in the midst of the din, will you let these hindrances silence you,
or stop you from bringing out what you have within?
Thoughts, words, images, impressions, expressions,
all kinds of pains, much sufferings,
joy, happiness, infinite beauty, exquisite scenes, boundless love,
and all of the above
Every aspect of life brought to light.
The poet's voice cannot be silenced
or the world will erupt into an utter darkness,
where we cannot see what is around us.
That will have us stumble into pits and holes and break our stride,
make us to cower behind a wall and hide.
The poet must not hide. His words are messages.
Like seeds or eggs they will either incubate or germinate.
They will live on.
