He meets me under the shady Banyan tree when the sun comes peeping in
I talk about life and love, courage and happiness
He meets me near the shore under the starry sky when the waves kiss my feet
I tell him about death and pain, fear and sadness
He meets me in my bedroom when I feel weary on weathered days where I struggle and wade through tears
I lament about the confusion and disorder that drowns me
He meets me anywhere, everywhere as I inhale life and choke on a complex system
We met one day on a tumultuous road as I groped for a friend
I needed a friend
Poetry never left
Our #WorldPoetryDay2018 celebrations included our #WhatPoetryMeansToMe series featuring posts from members of the Circle of Poets. This is our latest post.
For World Poetry Day (March 21, 2018), we asked members of the Circle of Poets to tell us what poetry means to them. We’ll be sharing their entries here with you over the coming days.
